PEOPLE across the globe are turning themselves into characters that look like they've jumped straight out of a Pixar movie.
The viral trend has emerged following the release of a new filter on Snapchat that alters your appearance. The 'Pixar' filter on Snapchat turns you into a Disney characterCredit: Snapchat/The Sun
What is the Pixar filter?
The effect, variously described as a "cartoon filter" or "Pixar filter", has been doing the rounds on social media for months.
They're available on a range of apps, including Instagram and Snapchat, and make the subject look like a character from a Disney flick.
Pixar has a long-standing style for its human characters, with traits shared by animated folk in movies ranging from The Incredibles to Soul.
The filters and lenses play on this style by turning the features of your face into something more Disney-like, with enlarged eyes and rosy cheeks.
There are a number of Pixar filters available that broadly all achieve the same effect. None are directly affiliated with Pixar.
The latest trend appears to have come off the back of the release of "Cartoon 3D Style", which hit Snapchat last week.
Videos appearing on TikTok and Instagram are generally using the lens in Snapchat and then posting a recording of it to other sites.
How to get the Pixar filter on Snapchat
To get Cartoon 3D style lens on Snapchat, tap or click on the following link.
Alternatively, open the app and tap the magnifying glass search icon in the top left hand corner.
Search "Cartoon 3D style" and tap on the lens to try it out.
Once the effect is loaded up, it will appear live. Try it on your mates, pets and even actors on your telly.
If you want to post the effect on Instagram, record a video on Snapchat and then save it your phone. You can then share it to other apps.
Simply hold down the big, circular "shutter" button in Snapchat to record a video, then hit "save" to stick it on your camera roll.

Last month everyone was obsessed with that half fun, half creepy Anime filter which made you look like a comic book character. But now, everyone has moved on to the cartoon filter. This one is half weird and half cute – but still, who doesn’t want to know what they’d look like if they were cast in a Disney or Pixar movie?
You may have seen one particular TikTok which has gone viral, as the girl transforms herself into Anna from Frozen. The video has had over 8.5million views and it’s fair to say – it’s amazing.
Now the filter is all over TikTok and Instagram, so if you’re getting major fomo and need it in your life, here’s a quick step-by-step guide on where you can find the cartoon filter and how to upload it to your profile.
Here’s how to get and use the Disney / Pixar cartoon filter
The filter is actually on Snapchat, so that’s why you might be wondering why you can’t find it when you look elsewhere. All you need to do is:
• Open your Snapchat app.
• Click on the smiley face next to the camera button, which is where all the filters are kept.
• It might not be on your given filters at that time, so to save you scrolling through them all just click on “explore”.
• Search for “cartoon” and it’s the filter which is by Snapchat – it’s one of the most popular filters right now so it should be right at the top of the list.
• Take your photo or video and save it, then upload it to wherever you want to post!

Recently, a very viral trend has been quietly taking over the Internet, and if you are confused about what we are referring to, it is the Disney Pixar face filter on Snapchat, Instagram, and TikTok. The social media company has introduced a new Cartoon 3D Style lens that turns your selfies – or any other picture with a person in it – into Disney Pixar characters. The filter can be used both for taking photos videos.

While Snapchat has this filer in-built in its system, some users on Instagram also wished to do the same. Unfortunately, the filter is exclusive to Snapchat. That being said, there are a couple of third-party applications available on the app store that can manipulate images to cartoon characters. CartoonMe is one such app that you can use to turn either freshly taken selfies or photos in the gallery into cartoon characters or even caricatures. Using the app is easy. All you have to do is open the app, tap on ‘Get started,’ and press the ‘Upload photo’ option.
The page that you will be directed to will prompt you to choose between taking a selfie or uploading a photo from your photo gallery. Once you have done this, you will be asked to unlock the photo, watch the 15-second ad – assuming that do not want to sign up for a subscription – and the photo will then be turned into a 3D cartoon. An alternative option for you to use is the Voila AI artist app which offers a 3D cartoon mode.
If you still do not seem to be not convinced, here are some reactions from people who have used this lens.
