This isn't meant to be a replacement or comprehensive cut of No Time To Die, it just turns one act of the film into a short film of its own, cutting out certain characters and altering the plot and heavily recutting the dialogue of some main conversations to make it a self-contained story with a different ending than the film. I'm not a big fan of the current "realistic" Bond, but this act had a completely different tone, a little gem in another otherwise pensive/morose Daniel Craig bond film. I didn't attach any English subs for this one because I can't find translations for the few exclamations Ana De Armas makes during the hat incident, the spotlight moment during the party, and one or two other places - the official subs just say [speaking spanish] and the spanish subs don't have any text for those sections. It isn't important dialogue but it's a bit annoying it isn't translated. This is an Adobe Premiere Pro xml export, so if you have premiere pro you should be able to download the tiny xml project and pair it with an mp4 that matches the length indicated (for example you can't use a Theatrical edit on a Director's version mp4, the edits won't line up) and premiere should spit out a fully edited video for you. If you don't have Premiere Pro, you can still use the project with DaVinci Resolve - I also made a tutorial for that so you guys would have a free option. It's a few extra steps but won't cost you anything. When I was running some tests during editing this film I noticed DaVinci Resolve has sync errors with H265 10-bit LE files, they work fine with Premiere but avoid them if you're using Resolve. At first I thought it was a bug with my project files but after some testing it appears to just be a problem with how Resolve handles certain video codecs, not something I can fix. No time to die Poster. re: intense heat - but there will be pockets where the heat didn't reach. re: his return....yeah I get that it would be a new actor....but James Bond is dead according to what we saw...explosion in front of him, then explosions behind him so you can't see him anymore. I just don't see how that is survivable. AND saying that James Bond Will return, that implies a male actor, right. Kind of wished they'd show off the new (in the movie) 007...show us what she can do. I can’t believe Craig has played Bond for over half my life! The end of an era for sure. I re-watched the first four films before going into NTTD so may as well summarise my thoughts on all of them. Casino Royale 8/10 Can totally see why many consider this one to be the best of the lot. But the plot got too twisty and turny with regard to Mathis. If I don’t fully understand the plot it really affects my enjoyment of the movie –I know that’s on me, but still. Luckily all the confusion happened towards the end, so the damage was minimal. Quantum of Solace 3/10 What the fuck is up with the editing? Why so many quick cuts? What the actual fuck. Really had to push myself to make it through the opening car chase. Disappointed to see Mathis again – like I said, I never fully understood the situation with him at the end of CR. I guess the audience is supposed to experience an emotional punch when he dies, but due to my conflicting feelings towards him it was all very meh. Skyfall – 9/10 OH MY GOD it’s as if the film itself knows its good! I could easily write an essay explaining why this film is something special but I'll just say: the plot, pacing, cinematography, Adele, score, Javier Barden – all amazing. And it landed that emotional punch with M. Part of me wishes this was the fifth and final instalment of the Craig era but the franchise really needed Skyfall after the disappointment of QoS. Spectre 8/10 This is a weird film, and the weirdness plays to its favour in my opinion. I remember the first time I watched it, it felt like a fever dream (maybe I was high at the time, I don’t know, but I know I watched it really late in the night). But even after the second viewing I came away with that same weird feeling. It’s as though they used up all the extras for the opening scene and couldn’t afford to hire more for the rest of the film, and a lot of scenes take place at night, and the colour scheme is quite unique. It’s just a weird, quiet and eerie film and I like it. Highly recommend watching this past midnight. “I am the author of all your pain” – I get it, with the Craig era nearing its conclusion, the producers wanted to thread everything together. However, you can’t just decide to do that without first laying the groundwork, otherwise it’s not believable. JK Rowling sketched out entire plot of the Harry Potter series before writing the first book and that’s why everything is so well threaded. I don’t think there’s enough breadcrumbs in the previous films to suggest Blofield/Spectre is responsible for everything bad that has happened to Bond. No Time To Die 8/10 The opening scene had horror movie vibes – sooo good! And I was glad the new director clearly cares about cinematography as much as Sam Mendes does. The opening scene was basically a two-parter? After the cabin flashback we catch up with Bond and Madeleine in Italy… the film packs in quite a lot of stuff before the title sequence! This was a refreshing change of formula in my opinion. A great opening, all-round. I didn’t feel anything when Felix died. They tried their hardest to land that emotional punch, but he hasn’t made enough appearances for me to care about him. Nice guy though. That female agent in Cuba who Bond teamed up with is pure badass lol. Loved her. I talked earlier about my scepticism towards Blofield’s claims that he is the cause of everything – setting him up to be that ‘final boss’ in a videogame. Well, in this film they swiftly move onto the next villain, which pleased me. And Safin did an okay job to be fair – he should have kept his creepy mask on though. The island: I actually enjoyed the clichéd meeting between Bond and Safin. They had an interesting conversation but a clearer understanding of Safin’s evil plans would have been nice. Kinda strange/questionable that he let Mathilde walk free after biting him. Bond battling his way to the control room to open the doors was a cinematic highlight. The ending: It surpassed my expectations to be honest. When thinking about the possibility of Bond dying, I assumed it would be very sudden. They made the right call to have a slow countdown to the inevitable, and it was perfectly soundtracked thanks to Hans Zimmer. Bond carrying his daughter’s lost toy during his final moments made for a powerful visual too, and made his death all the more heart-breaking (for me, at least) because you’re reminded he’s a dad now. But you can’t be (Craig's version of) James Bond and have that vulnerability, so it was a highly satisfying and logical conclusion. A strong film overall, and more importantly a strong performance from Craig. What a run he’s had. I echo what others said about hoping the supporting cast return for the next iteration. |
